You probably don't need me to tell you this, but as an "expert" in a field whose founding figure said that he was wiser than other people because he knew that he knew nothing, I can attest to the fact that "expertise" isn't a matter of Knowing More Facts than other people but having thought a lot about something and being able to help steer a discussion about it. Which is something you are very good at!
